Mesada

This is such an important archeological site because there is so little rain fall in the area it is very well preserved. During the Jewish revolt against Rome in 73-74AD a group of Jews took Mesada over. The Romans sent 12,000 soldiers to surround the compound until the Jews ended up committing suicide rather than fall into the hands of the Roman army.
