Mosaic floor

Mosaic tile was used on the floor of this ancient building in Bet Se'an. But mosaic tile went out of style when the Romans were in control so they covered all the tile with marble. You can see the white marble in the center of this picture.  However, marble is not indigenous to Israel so it had to be imported from Italy.
