This is an incredible model of the city of Jerusalem at the time of Jesus. You can see the massive area of the Temple on the upper right. This was built by King Herod as a way to make friends with the Jews. They say that this giant courtyard could hold over 400,000 people. The area (sliver) on the bottom right is the original City of David. It was located here because of its access to water. You can see how small it was compared to the size of the city at the time of Christ.
